Buje is a town situated in Istria, Croatia’s westernmost peninsula, not far from the sea (Umag). It is situated on several hills, of which it should be mentioned Buje hill (the highest point), and two smaller ones. It was built as traditional Istrian town which follows natural lines. The town developed from a Roman settlement into a medieval town, but there are sign of earlier life in surroundings.
You can also find here one of the most famous wine roads in Croatia, with 23 famous wine-makers, and it is also a great pleasure to explore the olive oil roads, where you can discover everything about the production and processing this well-known produce, with appropriate tastings.
