Frequently asked questions

Answers for riders using the app and for organisations running a Bikademy programme.

For riders

Is the Bikademy app free?

Yes. Bikademy is free for riders on iOS and Android. Rewards are provided by Bikademy and its partners, and organisations pay for their own programmes.

How do I pass an Exam?

Open Bike Studies in the app, choose a Study and cycle to one of its Exams. When you arrive, tap Pass Exam to check in. Keep GPS and mobile data switched on so the app can confirm your location.

Do I have to visit the Exams in a particular order?

No. A Study has no fixed route. Visit its Exams in any order and on any day, and you complete the Study once you have checked in at every Exam.

What are the four Challenge categories?

Challenges are split by daily distance so everyone competes on fair terms: Commuter (0–10 km per day), Recreationist (10–20 km), Enthusiast (20–60 km) and Athlete (60+ km).

How are rewards given?

In Challenges the best riders are rewarded every month, with leaderboards separated by category and gender. In Studies you win a reward when you complete every Exam of the Study.

What is a Special Study or Special Challenge?

It is a limited-time campaign, for example during a conference, a city event or European Mobility Week. You ride or visit a smaller set of locations during a set period and can win rewards from the organisers.

For companies, cities and destinations

Can we customise the programme to our organisation?

Yes. Some organisations focus on tracking and rewarding individual cycling, others run friendly competitions between teams, offices or cities. We build the programme around your goals and provide a dedicated dashboard.

What results and data do we receive?

Depending on the programme you can follow the number of rides, kilometres cycled, active participants, cycling time, estimated CO₂ savings compared with car travel, rankings and anonymised geographic cycling activity.

Do participants need to be experienced cyclists?

No. Four daily distance categories mean commuters, casual riders and experienced cyclists all take part on fair terms. Bikademy motivates everyday cycling, not only sport cycling.

Can we run a short campaign instead of an ongoing programme?

Yes. Special Challenges and Special Studies are limited-time campaigns around events, sustainability weeks, conferences, destinations or brand activations. Bikademy manages the competition, categories, rankings and rewards.

How can the results support our sustainability reporting?

Participation, kilometres and estimated CO₂ savings can support ESG communication, sustainability reporting, employee wellbeing initiatives, mobility programmes and stakeholder engagement.

How do we get started?

Book a 20-minute call. Tell us whether you want to activate employees, residents, a destination or an event, and we will propose a programme and timeline.
