Between the Sava plains and the slopes of Marija Gorica hills, in Brdovec, lies Laduč Castle. This impressive estate was built in the late 19th century in the Historicist style, and once belonged to the prominent Vranyczany-Dobrinović family, who played a significant role in Croatia’s economic, political, and cultural life.
Today, the castle serves as a home for children in need. Its architecture and rich history continue to impress visitors, as well as the long landscaped garden that leads to the castle like a prologue prior to the main attraction.
If you’re cycling from Zaprešić to Brdovec, you’ll pass another notable castle: – Januševac. It stands as the pinnacle of classicism in Croatia. Although the castle is not open to public, it’s worth a pause to admire its elegant facade, remarkable architecture, and peaceful surrounding park.
