Bike interview – Filip Kvasina

One of young hopes of Croatian cycling in Bikademy interview – Filip Kvasina.

Hi Filip! You currently ride for KK Kranj in Slovenia. How did it all started? We suppose it was natural way because of brothers who are famous Croatian cyclists.

As I come from sports cycling family, it was obvious that I will ride also, but we waited certain age to star with professional practice. And in 2012 I got my first road bike and tried with serious practice in BK Kalorija, I was 14 years old.

Soon I started to achieve good results that showed that is good to invest in that sport further. From 2016 I ride for KK Kranj, Slovenia.

What is Your biggest achievement?

Maybe it’s win in 4th stage on Carpathian Couriers Race, and that is U-23 race. For me personally it really matters a lot, and statistically of course.

Last year You participated Zwift Academy and virtual cycling? Can You tell us more about it?

Zwift academy was aimed for young athletes, U-23. Everything was organized by Zwift programme that I applied. In the start we had only practice, not races. And that first round lasted for 8 weeks.

After that the best 10 entered the semi finals, and I was in those 10 cyclists from the whole World. In those 2 weeks we had practices at treadmill and on the road where they recorded all possible parameters.

You study, work, practice… how many time You have for other stuff?

Currently I only study and practice. I study fitness preparation of athletes on Kinesiology in Zagreb. Almost every time I spend for practice, about 3 hours per day, and all things around practice, stretching, meals… So, I don’t have so much free time.

Do You cycle recreational, in everyday life or through tourist destinations?

Since I live a bit outside the city, I use bicycle in everyday life. Whatever I need in the city I go by bike. Bike always has advantage than car, except in cases of really bad weather.

When we talk about tourism, I cycled through Dalmatia, mostly with MTB. I single out Dalmatia (around Sibenik) as perfect cycling destination and there is no camera that can illustrate that landscape beuty.

Plans for the future?

This corona situation messed things up, especially for this year. Plan is to get the best possible result this year. And also, pass as many exams as I can.
