Martinska, a city beach and a picnic area, is located on the peninsula across the old town of Sibenik. It’s in a great location, surrounded by dense pine forest, wonderful nature, and a clear sea. One of the main reasons Martinska was built here is because of the lovely night view of the illuminated Cathedral of St James.
Here, at the beginning of Sibenik Bay, Martinska inspired many people. Martinican poet, Aimé Césaire, found the needed inspiration for writing his masterpiece „Notebook of a Return to the Native Land“, which he started writing in Sibenik.
In recent years, many locals and tourists come here for various summer festivals.
