Stara Kapela is located on the southeastern slopes of the Pozega up, 10 km northeast of the village of Nova Kapela. The area of 3.88 km2 live 20-odd inhabitants, and the average density of 6 people per km2. The village is located halfway between Nova Gradiska and Slavonski Brod, on a side road to the slopes of the Pozega up.
Until a few years ago the village was asleep at the time of modernization and forgotten. Then a handful of enthusiasts in their home region launched an initiative to preserve the place, its culture and traditions, and the village has become a unique tourist destination in Slavonia.
